DRPS forum on youth and mental illness Print

Durham Regional Police will be holding a forum this Monday in Clarington on the topic of youth and mental health issues.

In an ongoing effort to keep parents informed about mental health issues and to facilitate an information exchange between youth, parents and police, the Parent-Police Coalition will be hosting a forum entitled ‘Mental Health and Youth’.

The Durham Regional Police Coordinator of the Mental Health Support Unit, Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board Psychologist Dr. Deanna Swift, participants of the Clarington Parent – Police Coalition Team and youth officers from the East Division Community Resource Unit will be present.

Guest speakers will include DRPS - Mental Health Co-ordinator Constable Scott Logan and Crisis Worker Joanne Snow. Psychologist Dr. Deanna Swift will be present and answer questions on topics relating to youth and mental health. This forum is geared to parents of students and all ages are welcome.

The Police Coalition Team Meeting will take place on Monday January 30th, 2012  from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The meeting will be held at Holy Family Catholic School, 125 Aspen Springs Drive in Bowmanville.

Refreshments will be provided by our host, Holy Family Catholic School.
