PC candidate wins in Clarington Print

Ontario provincial election results in Clarington held few surprises, as incumbent John O'Toole easily took the area riding.

O'Toole, the PC candidate, has been reelected in Durham Riding, which includes the municipalities of Clarington and Uxbridge.

With all 222 polls reporting, O'Toole garnered 22,392 votes (49.1% of the riding's vote total). His nearest rival was Liberal Betty Somerville, who received 13,356 votes (29.3% of the vote). NDP candidate James Terry received 7990 votes, while Green Party candidate Edward Yaghledjian got 1208 votes.

Fringe candidates Blaize Barnicoat of the Libertarian Party received 421 votes, while Freedom Party candidate David Strutt received 240 votes.

A total of 45,607 voters participated in the riding, 50.6% of the total 90,170 eligible voters.
