Durham Regional Police report that a two-vehicle collision on Clarington Concession Three Road in Bowmanville Monday resulted in five persons being hospitalized and a diesel fuel spill onto the roadway.

On Monday June 11, 2012 at approximately 10:10 p.m. officers from East Division attended a reported two-vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of Concession 3, east of Bragg Road and west of Regional Road 42 in Bowmanville. A 2002 Oldsmobile with four teenagers was eastbound along Concession 3 when it passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed, striking the 2001 Ford F250 pick-up truck turning left into a driveway on Bragg Road. The force of the impact ruptured the pick-up diesel fuel tank and resulted in a spill across the roadway.

The four male teenagers in the Oldsmobile, along with the 71-year-old male driver of the Ford pick-up truck, were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Four were later released from hospital. An 18-year-old Clarington male remains hospitalized for further observation. All parties are reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

A Level II Collision Investigator attended the scene to conduct the investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and clean-up the diesel fuel spill. The investigation is ongoing.
