New eye clinic in Clarington PDF Print E-mail

Lakeridge Health has opened a new eye clinic at LH Bowmanville where Ophthalmologists and Retinal Surgeons will help 3,000 people each year preserve and improve their vision.

Treatments for glaucoma, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration will now be available in a fresh new space located directly across the hall from the hospital’s busy Eye Centre for cataract surgery.

“This brings together all of our skills, knowledge and eye expertise in one location,” says Kevin Empey, Lakeridge Health President and CEO. “We’re extremely pleased to now offer a full range of eye services to families in Durham Region at our Eye Centre of Excellence at LH Bowmanville.”

Equipment for the clinic – which includes two surgical lasers and an angiography camera – was purchased with the help of the Bowmanville Memorial Hospital Foundation.

“We’re proud to support this vital work through the generosity of our donors,” says Foundation Board Chair Rose Kuipers. “This is all about ensuring our friends, families and neighbours receive access to high quality care when they need it.”
