New tourism guide offered by Region PDF Print E-mail

Tourism hot spots in Clarington and the other seven municipalities in Durham are featured in a new guide produced by the Region.

The Region of Durham's Economic Development and Tourism Division recently launched the new Discovery Guide, highlighting the region's eight area municipalities, and their unique tourist destinations and attractions.

The guide features an extensive calendar of events and detailed sections, including Durham destinations and heritage; accommodations and conferences; bed and breakfasts; arts and culture; and restaurants. The publication also offers a seasonal itinerary outlining family friendly activities in Durham Region throughout spring, summer, fall and winter.

"Durham Region has so much to offer, and we are proud to highlight its various services, attractions and eateries in this year's Discovery Guide," says Kathy Weiss, Director of Economic Development for Durham Region. "We hope this one-stop-shop booklet will make it easy for residents and visitors to eat, shop and play in Durham Region."

Residents are also encouraged to download the 2012 My Durham Desktop program-a free computer desktop software that updates your computer's desktop image twice weekly with images of the stunning landscapes, wildlife and local art in Durham Region. Each image is accompanied by a pop-up window highlighting up-to-date information about local events taking place that week. Easy to install and compatible with any screen size, the 2012 My Durham Desktop is available to download for free at www.durhamtourism.ca.

"My Durham Desktop and the Discovery Guide are key resources for attracting visitors to Durham Region," says Kerri King, Tourism Manager for Durham Region. "Again this year, we are very proud to produce and print the Discovery Guide locally, featuring local models and photography. We feel this is important to Durham's local economy and the environment."
