Clarington residents looking for information on when garbage and recycling pickup is for their location now have a new online tool to use.
The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department has launched a new online tool that helps local residents find out what day of the week their waste is collected on. This tool is available at www.durhamregionwaste.ca.
"We have found that the waste collection calendar is one of the most popular links on the Region's website," says Cliff Curtis, Commissioner of Works for the Region of Durham. "This tool provides a simple way for residents to quickly access this information."
By entering their home address in the search field, residents can use the new tool to search for collection information for all residential curbside waste collection programs, including: Blue Box, Green Bin, garbage, leaf and yard waste, and bulky and metal goods.
Durham Region will continue to mail the annual residential waste collection calendar in a paper format to all local residents, however, the new online tool provides an additional service to residents who have misplaced their calendar or prefer accessing the information online.
The tool also includes direct links to more specific information about the individual waste management programs, including how to properly dispose of various items.
"With this new tool, residents can easily navigate the Region's website to learn more about separating their waste and diverting as much as possible from the landfill," says Mirka Januszkiewicz, Director of Waste Management for the Region of Durham. "This is just another way for us to make participating in our waste management programs as simple as possible."
To directly access the new online tool, go to www.durhamregionwaste.ca and select the calendar image.
