Police are asking for the public’s help in catching copper wire thieves in Bowmanville.

Since November 2009, Durham Regional Police report that the region has been experiencing an increasing number of copper wire thefts from commercial sites such as work yards, large commercial buildings, hospitals, and cell phone towers. A recent incident in Bowmanville resulted in security video footage of three suspects and their vehicle.

Suspect #1 is described as: male, white, early 20’s, tall in height with a thin build and wearing a black plaid coat and black toque.

Suspect #2 is described as: male, white, early 20’s, of average height and wearing a red hoodie and black toque.

Suspect #3 is described as: male, white, early 20’s, short in height with a small build and wearing a red toque, black plaid coat, dark pants and white running shoes.

Suspect vehicle is described as a black GMC Sierra pick-up with an extended cab/short box, chrome covering over the gas tank, chrome running boards (pipe style), roof lights, strobe light, no front plate and a sign on the rear side window. It is believed a compressor in the payload is seen during the security video footage.
